HISTORY & PHILOSOPHY
The tradition of the estate begins with the grandfather, Diamantis Terazas, who cultivated the first vineyard in 1950, with a local variety of Chalkidiki. The love and passion for the cultivation and care of the vine are bequeathed to the son Dimitrios Tarazas and the grandchildren Diamantis and George who basically grew up in the vineyard. From 1997 until today, the planting of the vineyards of the "Taraza Estate" begins with the father's help, where new varieties are now planted for the range of the estate's wines. The crown of this tradition is the creation of the "Tarazas Winery" in 2007, in which exceptional wines are produced with the same care and love in a limited number of bottles. The Tarazas estate was founded in 2007 with a love for the production of quality wine, coming from the privately-owned vineyards, which are cultivated with respect for the natural environment, in combination with the highlighting of the varieties aimed at high quality.
THE VINEYARDS
Opposite Mount Athos, at an altitude of 450 meters, in an ideal position for viticulture, are the privately owned vineyards of the estate.
The clay soil with nutrients and continuous aeration, which helps to combat diseases, but also the minimum aridity, is the result of all these soil and climate conditions (terroir), which shape the vinification effect of our excellent wines.
The red varieties of the vineyard are Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Grerache Rouge, while the whites are Cardone and Malagouzia.
